Been listening to reports on WEEI and they are bragging on him pretty good. That's nice to hear!

Awesome!  I hope he makes the team.  He may never be more than a back-up in the NFL but if you can make that a long-term job it might be one of the best jobs in the league.

They way the've been talking, he's got more than an excellent chance. They love that he can run.

There will be nothing wrong with him being a backup. They make pretty darn good money. I don't see him being a starter because of his accuracy issues but it would be great if he makes the Patriots or another team.

Back up QB in the NFL may be one of the best jobs on the planet.  This Sooner fan is damn glad he's out of Stillwater.  Hell, I hope steals Brady's job!!!

My college room mate had a friend from HS that was a third-string QB in the NFL and he said it was awesome. He was in the league for several years, had no injuries, and was paid six figures to hold a clip-board. I'll certainly sign up for that.

Who remembers seeing Jason Garrett play QB?  Between playing and coaching he may be catching up with Tom Landry in years employed by the Cowboys.

I think Brady is safe for now but New England will have to draft a quarterback here in the near future or sign a free agent to replace Brady. I don't think Zac is one to start but just being on the team sure beats a corporate job.

FOXBORO — Patriots second-year quarterback Brian Hoyer, who went undrafted last year, said last month that he would welcome all comers to compete for the backup job behind Tom Brady.

He got his wish when the Patriots selected Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson in the seventh round (250th overall).

Robinson ran the Patriot offense for the first time on Friday in the first day of two-day rookie minicamp. He said after the morning session that “it was good to get to know the plays a little bit and to get to know the schemes. It was just good to get out here and start playing again.”

Robinson set the school record for total offense during his time at Oklahoma State, finishing his career with 3,671 total yards (847 rushing yards and 2,824 yards passing for a combined 32 touchdowns).

When asked about the competition with Hoyer, Robinson said: “I’m really not worried about that right now. Right now I’m just going to work as hard as I can, prepare, and just try to get this offense down. I’m way behind [Hoyer], so I just have to play catch-up and learn the offense as quick as I can.”

Unlike Isaiah Stanback, a former quarterback whom the Patriots converted into a receiver last year, the team has no plans to convert the 6-foot-3, 218-pound Robinson into a receiver, coach Bill Belichick said. Robinson has proved that he can gain yards running with the ball.

“I think it just comes from being mobile and I made some plays with my feet in college, but I made a lot more plays with my arm,” Robinson said when asked about the possibility of moving to receiver. “I think that just comes with the territory. I ran a decent 40, and so maybe people say that, but I’ve been a quarterback my whole life.”

Robinson said he has not met Brady yet, but that he is looking forward to learning everything he can from him.

Robinson ran a spread-offense at Oklahoma State, but he worked out under center his entire time on Friday, fumbling one snap.

“It’s different, but I really enjoy it,” Robinson said. “I enjoy being under center. At the Senior Bowl I started to feel real comfortable with it. I’ll continue to get better but right now I definitely have a lot of work to do.”

Robinson threw crisp, clean passes to several of his fellow rookies in the morning session, including tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski, and receivers Bryan Anderson and Taylor Price. When he led the offense in a skeleton (no pads) scrimmage against the defense, he completed several passes on out-patterns but rarely challenged the middle of the defense.

In the afternoon session, quarterbacks coach Bill O’Brien had the receivers run long routes for Robinson, who was not as accurate throwing passes more than 10 yards as he was in the morning session throwing short passes.

Belichick said that he was impressed with Robinson’s Patriot debut.

“His system [was] a lot different [in college] than what we run, but I think he’s shown some good qualities in terms of leadership, production, being able to manage the team,” Belichick said. “We’ll see how all that goes. But what we do is what he did, so he has a learning curve there. He’s a smart kid and he works hard at it, so he’ll have a good chance of getting it. It’s just going to take a little while.”
