31% of the players that made the cut are Americans. 17% of the Americans, or 1 in 6, are former OSU golfers.

This makes sense to me. If you played at OSU, you were/are a great golfer. Also, they had to get used to playing in major wind around here. Good combination for playing a Major in England.

Unfortunately the OU golfer that has wen more money than all those guys so far this year is fighting injuries. Watching Kim & Fowler is going to be a lot of fun for a long time though I think.

Ricky had a 79 on day 1. He followed that with a 67, 69 and another 67 today.

It was about the wind moving the ball so that it could not be addressed. Remember, there is nothing to break the wind on a links course like there is at, say, Oak Tree or Southern Hills. It was NOT just the wind. It was the combo of the terrain and the wind. There have been far worse weather conditions during a British Open where there was no suspension of play. Why? The ball was not being moved by the wind/weather. |

Rory McIlroy has to be kicking himself. He probably had a great chance to win it if not for the 2nd day's 80 score. yikes. Congrats to Oosthuizen.

How many majors are held at Oklahoma courses other than Oak Tree or Southern Hills? How many courses in Oklahoma are best played with low shots and bump and runs? How many courses in Oklahoma have the climatic impact of being on the oceans/seas? Playing in Oklahoma definitely has its challenges. Yes there is wind. I doubt that any of you scratch golfers will be in the position to have the money on the line when putting for playing the week-end or flying home. Are you telling me that you would not want the round suspended until you could address your ball without fear of the wind forcing you to add a stroke to your score? ![]() |

I think saying that St Andrews is unlike any course in Oklahoma is like saying water is wet. |

My answer was not totally directed at you. I through the 'tour' bit in for BFNS who was smugly talking about the players whining. (I don't know who he heard. I heard the announcers talking about it but not players. But, then, BFNS has been known to take some liberties when making his snide remarks.) |

I agree that a links style course is different than what we have around here, except for maybe Rose Creek and Belmar. However, learning how to hit shots in gusty wind is more important to your ability to execute than the style of the course. Links or not, if you keep it in the fairway and hit greens in regulation you will probably post a good score. |

Links or not, if you keep it in the fairway and hit greens in regulation you will probably post a good score. The need to know how to hit in the wind is key for ALL pros. As to terrain, do we have a course by an open sea/ocean? Links are courses by the sea. Inland courses on the British Isles are not links courses. |
