with my Arena Football duties, my travels take me interesting places, but this weekend to Cleveland found me a bit star struck at times.

Talked with Thunder GM Sam Presti at the OKC airport. (not huge, but still), then in Cleveland on Saturday alone I ran into Johnny Damon (Detroit Tigers), Bernie Kosar (Cleveland Browns), Joshua Cribbs (Cleveland Browns), John Rzenik (lead singer of Goo Goo Dolls), then at the airport in Chicago I ran into Gilbey Clark (guitarist for Guns N Roses)

craziness...

That is quite impressive.  From '95-'05 I traveled about 50 to 80% of the time and for thelast 5 years I have traveled about 10% of the time.  That is a lot of time in airports and hotels.  However, I have had very few celebrity encounters and probably have seen fewer in any given year than you saw in one weekend.

My best encounter occured in the Dominican Republic.  I was able to sit at the bar in the American Airlines Admiral's Club for about an hour and was able to visit with Moises Alou the entire time.  He was on the way to Chi as a new cub after being traded from the Astros.  He was not a happy camper.  Too bad I was not a reporter because that conversation would have made a great story.

I ate lunch with Captain Phil Harris (RIP) last April.  Hung out with him for a couple of hours.  Cool mofo, that guy was.

I was at a work dinner earlier this week and one of my peers was telling us about eating at a restaurant that Clint Eastwood owns somewhere on the Coast of California.

He was sitting at the bar with a guy who claimed to be Clint's good friend from Texas. My buddy was like, yeah right. About 20 minutes later Clint Eastwood walks in and steps up to the bar right between these two guys. He looks over my co-worker and then looks at "Mike" on the other side of him and says "Well Mike, who's your friend?".

It was a very cool evening after that for him. He doesn't hardly remember any of the specifics discussed that night because he was star struck for the first time in his life.

He kept saying that Eastwood looks really, REALLY old in person and that he's very skinny. Of course, most 80 year old men appear that way.

No, but cars from his movies were all over the property. His workers who took care of the property were driving the vehicles.
